Anthony Hamilton - needs a good tournament.

10. Anthony Hamilton (England)

Provisional world ranking: 13

Age: 28

World Championship best: Second Round 1997, 1998.

Best ranking event performance: None.

1999/2000 ranking form: British - R3, Grand Prix - QF, UK - R5, China - Qual, Welsh - R1, Malta - R1, Thailand - R1, Scottish - QF.

After a promising start, Anthony Hamilton has suffered a poor season by his standards, reaching only one quarter-final.

He reached his first ever quarter-final in the 1997 German Open but has failed to make a name for himself in the top echelons of the game.

Anthony made his first appearance in a ranking final in the 1999 British Open, narrowly losing 9-7 to Fergal O'Brien. His first semi-final place came in the 1998 Beer Chang Thailand Masters.

Despite his ability to score heavily among the balls, Anthony needs a solid Crucible run to secure his top 16 position, which he is in danger of losing.
