Joe Perry: Has enjoyed a consistent season so far

Name: Joe Perry

Date of birth: 13/08/74 (39)

World ranking: 15

Crucible best: Semi-final 2008

Wisbech cueman Joe Perry started the season on a winning note as he won the first tournament carrying ranking points of his 22-year professional career - the Yixing Open - thanks to a 4-1 success over Mark Selby in the final.

Quarter-final appearances followed at the Wuxi Classic and Australian Open, before he reached the last four of the International Championship where he went out to Marco Fu.

Perry then reached the last 16 of the UK Championship - he lost to world number one Neil Roberston - and the quarter-finals of the German Open where Ding Junhui ended his run.

Ding was again his nemesis as he put out Stuart Bingham and Mark Selby among others to reach the semi-finals of the Welsh Open before losing 6-4 to the Chinese star.

That consistency has seen Perry regain his place back among the elite top 16 in the world and he currently stands at number 15.

A very capable player who certainly fits nicely into the category of ' dark horse'.
