Five-time world champion O'Sullivan trailed 5-4 coming into the evening session but showed his class to see off Bingham's brave challenge and land the £100,000 first prize.
O'Sullivan overturned the interval deficit to establish a 6-5 lead only for world number 10 Bingham to level again at 6-6 before edging ahead.
It was then O'Sullivan's turn to win two frames on the trot before Bingham, who won the Premier League in 2012, made it 8-8.
Not for the first time in his illustrious career, O'Sullivan found an extra gear and he breezed through the final two frames to claim the title in front of a packed crowd at the Ricoh Arena.
