 WORLD CUP VENUES
Stadium: York Park
Capacity: 20,000
Fixtures
October 30: Namibia v Romania (Pool A)

Once a swamp and then a rubbish tip, York Park has been developed into an adaptable sporting arena, designed to expand as and when necessary.

Primarily an Aussie Rules venue, it will host its first rugby union Test match when Namibia take on Romania in the World Cup pool stages.

The redevelopment saw new hills built round the perimeter, designed to enable temporary stands to be erected behind them for added capacity.

York Park, with a playing field larger than the MCG, plays host to leading Aussie Rules club Hawthorn for three matches each AFL season.
