JUSTIN MARSHALL

Born: 05.08.73
Height: 5ft 9in
Weight: 14st 8lb
Position: Scrum-half
Club: Canterbury
Caps: 65
Points: 110

A vastly-experienced half-back, Marshall faces a real battle for his place from former Australian U21 star Sean Devine.

A veteran of 65 caps for the All Blacks, Marshall made his debut in November 1995 against France, and has since gone on to score 22 Test tries.

The 30-year-old is easily New Zealand's most capped half-back, and formed a lethal club and country combination with fly-half Andrew Mehrtens.

But with Mehrtens missing out on selection for the World Cup, there are many in New Zealand who would rather see another club combination out there for the All Blacks – Auckland pair Devine and Carlos Spencer.

Marshall started New Zealand's first Test of 2003, the defeat against England in Wellington, but suffered a hamstring injury and only came back for the start of the Tri-Nations series.

Is likely to start this World Cup campaign, but will need to be at the top of his game to keep Devine out of the side.
