STEVE DEVINE

Born: 21.12.76
Height: 5ft 8in
Weight: 13st 4lb
Position: Scrum-half
Club: Auckland
Caps: 7
Points: 0

Hailing from the small country town of Boggabri in New South Wales, Australia, Devine is an unlikely All Black.

A former Australian U21 and Sevens half-back, Devine made such an impression when he moved to Auckland that he won his first senior international cap for his adopted country in November 2002 against England, qualifying on the residency rule.

It ended an anxious wait for Devine, as he only found out a few days before the match that he would be eligible to wear the All Blacks jersey.

Possessing a fine passing game, Devine has formed a good combination with fly-half Carlos Spencer at both club and international level, but could well find himself behind Justin Marshall when the World Cup gets under way in Australia.
