BEN BLAIR

Born: 26.03.79
Height: 5ft 10in
Weight: 13st
Position: Full-back
Club: Canterbury
Caps: 4
Points: 4

A prolific points-scorer from the full-back role, Blair is good in attack, solid in defence and is a fine goal-kicker.

Although he has just four Test appearances under his belt, his ability with the boot makes him the ideal player to have in the squad, and also probably contributed to coach John Mitchell deciding to leave fly-half Andrew Mehrtens out.

His last Test came in November 2002 against Wales and a shoulder injury he picked up in that game required surgery and meant he missed this season's Super 12 series as a result.

Although likely to only be a fringe player behind first-choice Mils Muliaina and Canterbury team-mate Leon MacDonald, Blair will not let New Zealand down if called upon to add to those four Test outings.
