One of two uncapped fly-halves in the Italy squad, Wakarua is widely seen as the man whose inclusion meant Ramiro Pez missed out on a spot on the plane.

The New Zealand-born No 10, whose mother is Scottish, arrived in Italy from Auckland five years ago and is a naturalised Italian.

He has been prolific in the second tier of rugby in Italy, but this represents a massive step up and he is even likely to be behind his fellow uncapped half-back Vincenzo Zullo in the race for a starting berth.
