Younger brother of team-mate Mauro and a player who has come a long way in a very short space of time.

He made his debut against France in the 2002 Six Nations tournament and has since made the Italian full-back jersey his own.

A player with great pace, he was oustanding against the Wallabies in the driving rain in 2003 - preventing countless tries with his solid defence and sound positional play.

Bergamasco's attacking flair was what John Kirwan felt Italy lacked in their opener against England, and he replaced Nicola Mazzucato in the number 14 shirt in the next squad.
