The South African-born centre was something of a surprise selection in France's squad, given his inclusion came - in all likelihood - at the expense of the supremly talented Thomas Castaignede.
Liebenberg only qualified for France - under the residency rule - as recently as August, but his performances for Stade Francais have been enough to convince Bernard Laporte of his ability.
The 23-year-old moved to France from his native South Africa three years ago and played for Grenoble before joining Stade Francais.
Likely to be used initially as back-up to Damien Traille, Liebenberg's story is an interesting one already, and with the talent he possesses, it looks like being a long one.
