After a shaky start to his international career, Betsen has finally begun to cement his place on a regular basis.

Indeed, the cool player making ground-breaking runs from the base of the scrum is a far cry from the hot-headed displays of anger that gave the Cameroon-born flanker such a bad reputation.

Betsen made his debut for 'Les Bleus' against Italy in 1997, but was in and out of the French squad due to his erratic form, which was partly due - by his own admission - to his petulant behaviour.

Biarritz coach Patrice Lagisquet took a massive gamble in making Betsen captain, but it has paid off handsomely as the French international really took to the role.
