WORLD CUP IRELAND
Picture Costello - destructive runner.

VICTOR COSTELLO

Born: 23.10.70
Height: 6ft 6in
Weight: 18st 3lb
Position: Flanker/Number Eight
Club: Leinster
Caps: 32
Points: 15

Having made his debut way back in 1996 – against the USA – Costello's haul of 32 caps will be something of a disappointment.

He has been in and out of the side on a regular basis and has had two sabbaticals from the international game – between November 1996 and November 1997 and latterly August 1999 and September 2002.

A switch of positions from number eight to the flank – allied to some impressive performances for Leinster – saw him recalled for the Test against Romania late last year and he hasn't looked back.

A destructive runner in the loose, Costello gets around the park well and brings strength and experience to the back of the Ireland pack.
