WORLD CUP IRELAND
Picture O'Connell - hard worker.

PAUL O'CONNELL

Born: 20.10.79
Height: 6ft 5in
Weight: 17st
Position: Lock
Club: Munster
Caps: 10
Points: 15

But for injuries O'Connell would surely have added to his 10 caps, despite his international career being very much in its infancy.

The Munster second row made his Ireland debut in February last year against Wales, scoring his first try, but injuries ruled him out of their next two Six Nations games.

He returned to face Italy, France and then the All Blacks, but again injury sidelined him and he had to wait until March this year to return as a replacement against England.

A prodigiously hard worker, O'Connell is a fearsome competitor both defensively and on the break – as his record of three tries in 10 appearances shows.
