WORLD CUP IRELAND
Picture Horgan - dangerous back.

SHANE HORGAN

Born: 18.07.78
Height: 6ft 4in
Weight: 15st 4lb
Position: Wing
Club: Leinster
Caps: 19
Points: 40

Having progressed through the Irish Youth and Under-21 sides, Horgan won his first full cap against Scotland in February 2000 and marked the occasion by scoring his first international try.

The following year saw his real breakthrough with Six Nations appearances against Scotland, Wales and England.

Injury hit him hard in last year's Six Nations as he was on the sidelines for the clashes with Wales and England before returning to face Scotland, Italy and France.

Hopes that would mark the start of a run in the side were dashed by another injury which kept him out of the side to face Australia in November.

A fully-fit Horgan is a player more than capable of making an impact at this level with his pace and strength a potent combination.

He will be looking to make up for lost time - injury permitting - once the action gets under way.
