Seen as the long-term successor to Reggie Corrigan at loose-head prop, Horan has been forced to play second fiddle to his more experienced team-mate for long periods since making his debut in 2000.
That game against the US Eagles just four months after he had made his debut for the Ireland A side – but Corrigan's presence has left him as a frustrated bystander.
At 26, though, Horan is young for a prop and has the footballing ability to comfortably step into Corrigan's shoes on a permanent basis.
Aggressive in rucks and powerful taking the ball up, it will surely only be a matter of time before the Munster man is an Ireland regular.
