WORLD CUP WALES
Picture Williams - has searing pace.

RHYS WILLIAMS

Born: 23.02.80
Height: 5ft 10in
Weight: 13st 4lb
Position: Full-back/Wing
Club: Cardiff Blues
Caps: 30
Points: 35

Williams first came to prominence in 1999 when he was outstanding in the Wales Youth team that reached the World Cup final.

By that stage he had already made a senior, try-scoring debut for Cardiff in the centre and after a dazzling start to the 1999-2000 season was invited to join Wales in their pre-World Cup training camp in Portugal.

He gained his first full cap against Ireland in Dublin and retained his place in the Wales team in 2000-2001 and has been a feature of the side ever since, scoring seven tries in 30 appearances.

Equally effective at full-back or on the wing, his searing pace is always going to be a problem for opposing sides.
