Evans made his debut for Wales some five years ago - in the 96-13 mauling by South Africa - but had to wait until August for his second cap.
He did enough there - against Ireland - and in the clash with Scotland to book his place for the trip Down Under despite such a lengthy spell in the wilderness.
A utility back who can play both on the wing and at full-back, this is probably the 30-year-old's last crack at a World Cup and he is determined to take it.
