Having made his debut for Scotland in the victory over Romania last November, Walker took just a week to score his first try - crossing against South Africa.
His progression to the senior squad had long been on the cards having represented his country at Under-18, Under-19, Under-21 and A team level.
But having played three games at the top level, Walker was dropped to the Under-21 side for the Six Nations earlier this year and his World Cup hopes appeared over.
But the pacy strike runner continued his try-scoring form for both the Under-21s and club side Borders to book his place on the plane Down Under.
He may not get much game time in the World Cup, but the experience will do wonders for the 21-year-old.
