WORLD CUP SCOTLAND
Picture Taylor - all-action forward.

SIMON TAYLOR

Born: 17.08.79
Height: 6ft 4in
Weight: 16st 7lb
Position: Number Eight
Club: Edinburgh
Caps: 25
Points: 10

Taylor made his first appearance for Scotland in 2000 against the USA and has already represented the Lions.

Unfortunately for the youngster, his tour Down Under was cut short by a knee injury after he had crossed in the mauling of Western Australia.

But he returned to action in some style, taking the Famous Grouse Scotland Player of the Season award for 2002-2003 on the back of a string of stunning displays, including making an incredible 23 tackles in the clash with England.

At 24, Taylor is well short of his prime as a rugby player, but is an all-action forward who is willing to put his body on the line both in attack and defence.

His performance against Australia in late 2000 is testament to that - the Edinburgh star suffered a double fracture of the hand, but battled on for 65 minutes.
