ROBBIE RUSSELL

Born: 01.05.76
Height: 5ft 10in
Weight: 15st 2lb
Position: Hooker
Club: Saracens
Caps: 14
Points: 5

Hooker Russell went under the knife last summer to cure a back injury but is back to his best after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The Brisbane-born forward has all the attributes needed to be a top-class front-rower.

Fiercely competitive, aggressive and mobile, Russell ensures his opponents must be on their guard for the full 80 minutes.

He began his rugby career in Brisbane before moving to Scotland - to play for Aberdeen Grammar School FP then Edinburgh - in 1997.

His first Scotland cap came in August 1999 just after he had joined the Reivers yet incredibly he failed to break into the starting line-up until four years later.

By that stage - when he started against Italy earlier this year - he had won nine caps as a replacement and with Gordon Bulloch around, 'Muscle' Russell could find his chances Down Under limited.
