Proved his ability is that required of an international scrum-half on the North American tour, which Graeme Beveridge missed through injury.
Blair's performances have probably moved him ahead of the Glasgow man in the race to be Bryan Redpath's understudy and at 22 he has a long international future ahead of him.
Speed is his prize asset and having represented Scotland at every level from Schools upwards, he looks likely to be Redpath's long-term successor.
He could even inherit the captaincy from the Sale man having led Edinburgh to victory in the Bank of Scotland Pro Cup two days before his 22nd birthday.
