An explosive full-back or centre, Loubscher has two caps for the Springboks, one in June 2002 against Wales and one in June of this year against Scotland.

Made his Super 12 debut for the Cats in 1999 playing mainly on the wing after failing to impress the Sharks, but moved back to the Sharks in 2000.

A strong defender, he was selected in the first squad current Springbok coach Rudolf Straueli picked, and has come of age over the past couple of years, including a fine season in the 2002 Super 12 campaign.

A decent footballer and tennis player, he clocked a time of 10.83 seconds for the 100 metres while still at school.
