WORLD CUP SOUTH AFRICA

SCHALK BURGER

Born: 13.04.83
Height: 6ft 3in
Weight: 16st 7lb
Position: Flanker/Number Eight
Club: Stormers
Caps: 0
Points: 0

A recognizable figure with his shock of blond hair, Burger skippered the South African U21 team that finished fourth in the World Cup earlier this year in England.

However he was red-carded during the play-off for third place in the defeat against Argentina, and although the card was later changed to a yellow it hasn't stopped people from raising questions over his temperament.

He was also a member of the squad that won the event in 2001, and won selection for the Stormers 2003 Super 12 squad.

A talented flanker, Burger is sure to be a star of the future, although might not see too much game time in Australia.

His father, also called Schalk, played six Tests for the Springboks in the mid-80s.
