DE WET BARRY

Born:24.06.78
Height: 6ft 1in
Weight: 14st 5lb
Position: Centre
Club: Stormers
Caps: 19
Points: 15

Renowned for his fierce defence and no-nonsense approach to the game, Barry made his Test debut in June 2000 against Canada.

His efforts at centre looked to have made him a fixture in the national team, only for a broken cheekbone and hand to set him back in 2001.

He got back in the senior team though, and although not an established first-teamer, he remains in the mix for a starting spot.

Part of the U21 team that won the SANZAR/UAR tournament in Argentina in 1999, he plays his Super 12 rugby with the Stormers.

He already has 19 caps to his name, scoring three tries, and has turned in some superb defensive efforts this year, most noticeably in July's 26- 22 win over Australia in a Tri-Nations clash at Newlands in Cape Town, when he landed several huge hits on opposite centre Steve Kefu.
