PHIL WAUGH

Born: 22.09.79
Height: 5ft 7in
Weight: 15st 7lb
Position: Flanker
Club: NSW Waratahs
Caps: 15
Points: 15

A key player for the Wallabies at this World Cup, Waugh has developed so much that he has made the open-side flanker spot his own, meaning George Smith has switched to blind-side.

An all-action player, Waugh made his senior debut as a replacement against England in November 2000, and has since gone on to earn 15 caps.

Was the Super 12 Australian Rookie of the Year in 2000 as well as the runner-up of the Super 12 Player of the Year award in 2001.

His speed to the breakdown, aggressive defence and wonderful ball skills were sorely missed by the Wallabies in 2002 when he missed out through injury, but his efforts in 2003 show he is back on track.
