WENDELL SAILOR

Born: 16.07.74
Height: 6ft 3in
Weight: 16st 7lb
Position: Wing
Club: Queensland Reds
Caps: 13
Points: 30

Another former rugby league player in the Wallabies ranks, Sailor has made a fine start to his rugby union career.

Since making his debut against France in June 2002, Sailor has made 13 appearances for the Wallabies, scoring six tries.

Having achieved everything in rugby league, scoring over one hundred tries for the Brisbane Broncos and representing Queensland and Australia, Sailor switched to union in November 2001.

Although he looked shaky in his first season in the 15-a-side code, this season he has looked in fine form, scoring two tries against Wales and a blockbusting effort in the defeat against England on home soil.

Sailor himself, never short of a word, admits that he has improved this season.

"Last year I was a league player playing union. This year I'm more of a union player," he said after the Wales game.

Although probably not as naturally suited to the code as fellow converts Tuqiri and Rogers, with his power and speed Sailor is a handful for any opponent.
