STIRLING MORTLOCK

Born: 25.05.77
Height: 6ft 3in
Weight: 15st 7lb
Position: Centre/Wing
Club: ACT Brumbies
Caps: 20
Points: 158

A blockbusting centre or wing, Mortlock's last Test outing came as full-back against Italy in Genoa in November 2002.

A torn cartilage in his right shoulder suffered in a Super 12 game for the ACT Brumbies against the Stormers in March has seen him on the sidelines ever since, meaning he will have limited time to stake his claim for a place in the Wallaby team.

However, this fine attacking player is also an excellent goal-kicker, a fact recognized by the Brumbies who recently awarded him a new three-year contract.

He grabbed eight Super 12 tries in 2002, going on to be given the Australian Super 12 Player of the Year award.

With the Aussie backline failing to fire in their warm-up games, a fully-fit Mortlock is sure to see plenty of action in the World Cup.
