The 6ft 7in Harrison is another late developer in the Wallaby squad, having not started playing rugby union until the age of 20.

Harrison looked set for a long run in the international side after forming a formidable partnership with fellow Wallaby David Giffin in the ACT Brumbies second-row, and then helping Australia to a memorable victory in the third and deciding Test against the touring British and Irish Lions in 2001.

It was he who leapt highest to secure a vital line-out win when it looked like the Lions would have a last chance at snatching a win and the series, but since then he has slipped down the pecking order.

While Giffin remains a key part of the Wallabies pack, Harrison has slipped behind Nathan Sharpe and Daniel Vickerman in the reckoning, and after finding himself on the Brumbies bench this season announced he was moving to the NSW Waratahs from next season in a bid to play regular Super 12 – and hopefully international – rugby.

Shortly afterwards, though, Vickerman announced that he too would be leaving Canberra to join the Waratahs, and it could be a struggle for Harrison to fulfil his aim of getting more game time.
