One of Australia's most consistent performers, Giffin seems set for a starting spot in the lock position.
A veteran of the 1999 World Cup-winning team, Giffin missed most of 2002 after recovering from shoulder surgery, but has been in fine form this season for the ACT Brumbies.
Known for being a forward with a high work-rate around the field, he is also strong in the line-out and has made 45 appearances for the Wallabies.
Although a member of the inaugural ACT Brumbies squad, Giffin has represented Queensland U21s, Queensland B, Queensland Reds, Barbarians, Australian U21s, Australian XV, as well as the Brumbies and Wallabies.
While the Aussie pack has come under fire for some lack-lustre performances in the build-up to this World Cup, Giffin remains one player who commands the respect of team-mates and opponents alike.
