Giteau made a meteoric rise in world rugby, making his Wallabies debut before he had even played for his Super 12 side ACT Brumbies.

The highly-rated scrum-half or fly-half came straight out of club football to come on as a reserve in Australia's heart-breaking 32-31 defeat at the hands of England at Twickenham last November, although he had already represented the Australian Sevens team and the Australian Under-21 side.

The son of a former Canberra Raiders rugby league player, Giteau switched to the inside centre position this season for the Brumbies, but many good judges believe he is destined to be a Wallabies fly-half of the future.

Giteau shrugged off doubts about his defence by being named this season's 'Vodafone Super 12 Rookie of the Year', and recently signed a new three-year deal with the Brumbies despite reported interest from the NSW Waratahs.
