DAN LYLE
Born: 28.09.70
Position: Flanker
Club: Leicester
A genuine star in the American team, Lyle only started playing rugby union at the age of 23 in an attempt to keep fit.
A former American footballer who was once invited to train with the Minnesota Vikings, Lyle made his debut for the Eagles in November 1994 against Ireland, and has since gone on to win 39 caps for his country, scoring six tries.
A flanker who has captained his country, Lyle joined Zurich Premiership outfit Bath in the 1996-97 season from the Old Mission Beach Athletic Club, and was a key performer until he left earlier this summer.
Leicester moved to snap him up in the weeks leading up to the tournament and will be looking for their new recruit to shine at the highest level.
Although injury forced him out for the season in 1998, he appeared in the 1999 Rugby World Cup and then for the Barbarians a year later.
