A surprise choice as Namibia's skipper, 26-year-old Furter is a number eight forward who played in the 1999 World Cup.

A German descendent, he has good ball-playing ability and plays his club rugby in Namibia for United RC.

Recently took over the captaincy from Corne Powell, who has led the team over the past two seasons including the Welwitschias' successful qualifying campaign.

Impressed in the 25-9 defeat against a strong South Africa 'A' side earlier this year, but his shock inclusion as skipper and the fact his side are expected to struggle in Group A means he faces a daunting task.

Has played 21 Tests for his country, scoring three tries.
