Born in New Zealand but with a Fijian father, Smith is the current captain of Fiji.
Well known in rugby circles, hooker Smith plays for the Waikato Chiefs in the Super 12 competition, and also spent a short time with Welsh club Swansea in 2001.
Made his international debut in 1995 at the age of just 21 and skippered the team at the 1999 World Cup, but has missed a number of games over the past three seasons through injury.
A player who leads by example, Smith's experience and know-how will be vital as the Fijian forwards look to try to match the enviable reputation of their backs.
