VICTOR MATFIELD

Born: 11.05.77
Height: 6ft 6in
Weight: 18st 2lb
Position: Lock
Club: Bulls
Caps: 20
Points: 20

One of the best line-out jumpers in world rugby, Matfield won selection for South Africa on the back of some superb performances for the Bulls Super 12 team.

Has also played for the Cats in the Super 12 series, but returned to the Bulls at the start of 2000.

The 6ft 6in Matfield is a former U21, U23 and A team representative and made his Test debut against Italy in June 2001

Blessed with a blinding turn of pace for such a big man, he missed out on the Springbok touring party of 2002 with a recurrence of an ankle injury.

South Africa's first-choice lock forward, Matfield is one of the best players in the world in that position and has four Test tries to his name.
