A former junior football star, Urjukashvili made his international rugby debut at the age of 17 in October 1997 against Croatia.

Just seven months later he booted four penalties as Georgia defeated Russia 12-6 in the 1999 Rugby World Cup qualifiers, and recently he scored a try and dropped a goal as the Lelos went down to defeat at the hands of Italy in a warm-up game for the World Cup.

He plays his club rugby in France with Tours, and is firmly entrenched as Georgia's goal-kicker.
