Position: Lock
Club: Auckland

An all-round sportsman, the 6ft 6in Williams only made his All Blacks debut in November 2002 against England, but is now seemingly entrenched in the lock position.

A former junior star at football, tennis and cricket, Williams made his Test debut just five years after taking up rugby, and after only season with Super 12 club Auckland.

Moves well for a big man and with good hands, his father Rodney played for Blackheath in England, while his brother Jonathon is also a rising star in the game.

Was cited for stamping on the face of England full-back Josh Lewsey during the All Blacks defeat in Wellington, but was controversially given no punishment when the incident was looked at later.

Although he had struggled with his line-out work early in the season, he turned in a fine performance against South Africa in Dunedin in August, and looks set to play a big part in the All Blacks pack.
