The 23-year-old Bayonne-born flanker is a Basque and is rated by many observers as among the best back-row forwards in the world.
His progress has been remarkable given that he only made his debut against Wales in the 2002 Six Nations but he has developed into the most feared forward in the competition.
Aggressive, he is a spiky character and before this year's RBS 6 Nations tournament openly declared that he did not like the English.
He now plays for Pau in France's rugby-playing heartland in the Pyrenees.
Strong in defence and always looking to drive his side forward, Harinordoquy is a player who will continue to make an impact at the highest level for many years to come.
