ARISE SIR JONNY?
Jonny Wilkinson is quoted at 4/1 by William Hill to be knighted in the New Year's Honours List - and England coach Clive Woodward is a 6/4 shot for the same award.
Bookies were celebrating with England fans as the World Cup was won 20-17 in extra-time.
"It was the best of both worlds for us - England supporters who backed them to win the World Cup collected, but those who bet on them winning in 80 minutes play or on the handicap, lost their cash, so it was honours even between us and the punters," said Hills spokesman Graham Sharpe.
The biggest individual winner was a customer from Cheshire who collected £25,000 after staking £10,000 on England at 6/4.
"It was the biggest betting rugby match ever, with over £5million gambled, and the tournament itself smashed all records with up to £30million bet in total," said Sharpe.
