Weight: 17st 2lb
Position: Number Eight/Flanker
Club: Wasps
Caps: 69
Points: 70

England captain following the international retirement of Martin Johnson, Dallaglio is one of the elder statesman of the England pack, the most fearsome engine in world rugby and the foundation of England's victorious Grand Slam and World Cup campaigns.

After a couple of (by his standards) indifferent performances in the early stages of the World Cup, Dallaglio returned to his dominating best for the big games.

Always capable of breaking a line or adding another 10 metres to a drive, at 31 the back-row powerhouse looks as good as ever - and he is high in the running to regain the captaincy in 2004.

The last couple of years have been disrupted by injuries, first to his knee – which needed reconstructive surgery at the start of last season – and then his hand, but recent games have showed he has lost none of his attacking ability or effectiveness in the scrum.

A seasoned mainstay, there is no reason to expect anything else for the Six Nations assault.
