Phil Vickery

Born: 14.03.76
Height: 6ft 3in
Weight: 19st 2lb
Position: Prop
Club: Gloucester
Caps: 42
Points: 5

Vickery missed 2003's watershed Grand Slam with a back injury but it is testament to Clive Woodward's faith in the Gloucester hardman that he started and finished the World Cup as first-choice tighthead prop.

The 6ft 3in, 19st man mountain adds huge physical power to Woodward's pack and has earned the nickname 'Raging Bull'.

Literally a colossal figure in the scrum - he is the joint-heaviest British Lion in history - Vickery has matured since his debut in 1998 from a straightforward brawling mauler into a sophisticated ball-winner, winning the Zurich Premiership at club level in addition to his World Cup medal.

Having missed out last time round, but with added experience at the highest level of international competition, Vickery's lust for the 2004 Grand Slam will be second-to-none and if he can keep injuries at bay, he is sure to be one of the forwards to watch.
