Peel - rising Wales star.
DWAYNE PEEL
A typically combatative Welsh scrum-half, Peel has finally stepped out of the shadows of Robert Howley to become his country's first choice number nine.
Peel made his debut against Japan in 2001 but made his real breakthrough in the 2003 autumn internationals.
His first start for Wales came against South Africa in the white-hot
atmosphere of Bloemfontein in June.
Wales went down 34-19 and they also lost the second Test 19-8 in Cape Town a
week later, respectable results compared to some in their recent history, and
Peel had shown enough to retain his place for the autumn internationals against
Romania, Fiji, Canada and New Zealand.
After six matches, he is still the only scrum-half to start for Wales since
the departure of Howley and is a player of rich potential.
