Townsend - Scottish legend.
GREGOR TOWNSEND
Gregor Townsend is a Scotish rugby legend and he became their most capped player when he appeared against Wales at the end of the 2002 Lloyds TSB Six Nations Championship.
He has extended his cap record this season appearing as substitutes in the wins against Romania and South Africa and starting in the win against Fiji.
A British Lion and talisman for the Scottish team for nearly a decade, Townsend goes into the 2003 season under pressure for the fly-half role.
However his versatility, he can also operate at centre, and proven big match temperament mean he will still have a key role to play for Ian McGeechan's side.
His experience will be invaluable as the shrewd coach looks to rebuild Scotland as an international force, something Townsend has almost single-handedly being achieving in recent years.
