Bryan Redpath has turned into an inspiratinal captain for Scotland and led them t their first victory over South Africa in 33 years in November. He has now captained his country on ten occasions.

He has made a fine comeack after injury forced him to miss the 1999 Five Nations Championship and made his international comeback on the tour to South Africa, ;ater that year.

A veteran of the 1995 World Cup, where he played in three of the four matches, he also played two seaons in France with Narbonne.

He returned to England join Sale Sharks and snubbed the attentions of Leicester in the summer to stay in the north west.
