A vital cog in the side Wilkinson is regarded as one of the best fly-halves in world rugby, as his selection as first choice for the British Lions in 2001 proved.
Made his debut in 1998 against Ireland and hasn't looked back since.
Such has been his impact, that Wilkinson has already been awarded an MBE and was also shortlisted for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year before Christmas.
One downside is he is playing his club rugby for the struggling Newcastle Falcons, but don't expect that to affect him once he pulls on the Red Rose jersey.
