Charvis - fantastic servant.
COLIN CHARVIS
Colin Charvis was handed the Welsh captaincy on last summer's tour to South Africa when his side
were unlucky not to win one of the Tests.
He cemented his status as successor to
the retired Scott Quinnell as both skipper and number eight by leading his
country to three wins in four games in the Autumn internationals.
The Romanians were comfortably dispatched at Wrexham and Fiji were routed by
seven tries, while Canada were eventually overcome after a stern examination as
Quinnell made his emotional exit.
Charvis, who has scored nine tries for Wales, knows everybody is focussing on
the World Cup but insists the main priority must be on continuing their recent
improvement during the Six Nations.
For inspiration they should look no further than their captain, the most destructive flanker in the European game and a fierce competitor.
