England celebrate their Grand Slam.
ENGLAND CUT FOR WORLD CUP GLORY
England are now 7/2 from 4/1 with Ladbrokes to win the World Cup later this
year after their Six Nations triumph.
Clive Woodward's side produced a faultless second-half display at Lansdowne Road to beat Ireland 42-6 and the bookmakers were clearly impressed.
In contrast South Africa continue to be friendless, drifting from 10/1 to
12/1.
"As far as Ladbrokes were concerned, if one were to reflect on this years
Six Nations tournament, England topping the table was a very poor result.
Even at 1/3 punters could not get enough of Clive Woodward's XV," said
Balthazar Fabricius of Ladbrokes.
However, on the Grand Slam and Triple Crown markets Ladbrokes were mightily
relieved to see Ireland fail in their attempt to win the much sought-after
trophies. The opening prices of 20/1 on Ireland for the Grand Slam and 8/1
for the Triple Crown were very popular and liabilities had run into high
five figures on each market.
