Olivier Magne gave up a potentially glittering skiing career at the age of 17 to concentrate on his rugby, a decision that has been rewarded in some style.

He possesses great skill and has all the attributes of an outstanding international player - good hands, pace and intense physical commitment.

The fear of disciplinary problems are always bubbling away under the surface but take that from his game and France would undoubtedly suffer.

He was outstanding in the 20-20 draw with New Zeland in the autumn, crashing over for a try, and his searing pace means he is always likely to make telling breaks against tiring defences.
