Galthie - inspiration for side. (Allsport)
FABIEN GALTHIE
Fabien Galthie did more than most to lift his side to Six Nations glory last season, producing a series of brilliant displays when they needed them most.
Galthie is a veteran of the 1991, 1995 and 1999 World Cups, but he almost didn't make the last tournament in Wales after he was originally left out of the 30 man squad after an alleged falling out with the management.
However, he was eventually picked and played in the final against Australia. He has been a regular in the French side ever since, having spent years on the fringe of the international side.
A great influence as captain of the side, he can also switch to a nine man game if the traditionally expansive style of play is not working.
Galthie is now entering the veteran phase of his career, but his skill and drive remain as important as ever for a side who desperately need to make a bold defence of their crown.
