WORCESTER REPORTS 2007-2008
Picture Flutey crosses for a Wasps try.

Wasps 49 Worcester 12

Danny Cipriani scored 19 points as Wasps racked up a fifth straight Premiership win and continued their relentless charge towards the play-offs.

Wasps scored seven tries in an impressive rout as Lawrence Dallaglio's men fell just one point short of a half century against struggling Worcester.

With three league games in just eight days - Wasps coach Shaun Edwards shuffled his pack, with England internationals Joe Worsley and Tom Voyce returning to action after long spells out with injury.

Worcester, unbeaten in four, had the first chance to put points on the board but Shane Drahm's penalty sailed wide on three minutes.

The home side made Drahm pay as they crossed the tryline on 16 minutes through Riki Flutey after the Wasps centre was fed by Cipriani - who then added the conversion.

On 21 minutes Worcester's Matt Cox was sin-binned for foul play, leaving the Warriors a man down and Wasps deep in enemy territory.

And Worcester's indiscipline returned to haunt them as Pat Barnard crashed over a minute later from close range.

Wasps took further advantage of their extra player when Dominic Waldouck broke down the right before finding Cipriani inside, who scored under the posts and then slotted the extra two.

Worcester showed good spirit to bounce back just minutes before the break thanks to a try from the returning Cox and conversion from Drahm.

After the break Wasps continued their domination as Mark Van Gisbergen - on at half-time for Flutey - outpaced a stretched Worcester defence to reach the tryline and Cipriani put the kick over.

On 55 minutes the home side made changes as the returning Worsley and Tom Palmer left the field to be replaced by Simon Shaw and Rob Webber.

But moments later Shaun Edward's plans were disrupted as skipper Lawrence Dallaglio was sent to the sidelines after receiving a yellow card from referee Sean Davey.

Ten minutes before the end the gloss was taken off Wasps' performance as Dave Walder, who had just been brought off the bench, was stretchered off with what looked a bad injury.

Edwards' men were undeterred though and a couple of minutes later Shaw went over after a smart pass inside by Cipriani who sent the resulting conversion over.

It became an embarrassing rout late on as Tom Voyce used his pace against a tired Warriors defence to score a fantastic solo try and the brilliant Cipriani converted yet again.

By this point Worcester were totally stunned and Van Gisbergen rubbed salt into the wound with his second try of the match.

A consolation try from Matt Mullen in added time did nothing to change the fact his side had been completely thrashed.
