England reject Andy Gomarsall handed England coach Andy Robinson a timely reminder with an all-action display for Harlequins as they took another giant stride away from the dreaded drop zone with a solid win over Worcester.

Gomarsall, who joined Quins this season, continued his impressive early season form as he drove a resurgent pack forward on every occasion.

Quins centre Hal Luscombe scored on his return from injury late in the second half to seal an impressive victory.

With a pre-match deluge, this was never going to be a classic and Quins, having won their three previous games, were always the more likely to prevail.

Worcester had a promising opening five minutes but it was Harlequins who were first on the scoreboard.

Hooker Tani Fuga was guilty of overthrowing his jumper at a lineout just inside Worcester's 22-metre line. Quins prop Mike Ross cleaned it up at the tail and from the ruck that followed number 10 Adrian Jarvis switched the play to the blind side and his clever kick found winger David Strettle on hand to score in the corner.

Shane Drahm got the side from Sixways back into the game with a penalty in the 14th minute after Quins were penalised for not releasing the ball on the floor.

Jarvis responded almost immediately with a penalty of his own, before Drahm landed his second kick of the match.

With half-time approaching, Drahm missed a vital kick at goal leaving Quins deservedly 10-6 up at the break.

The second half continued where it had left off with both fly-halves kicking for possession.

But it was not until Chris Horsman, on as a substitute, was sin-binned after 58 minutes that any more points were added in the game.

Horsman, who was released from international duty this week by Wales, stamped on Quin Simon Keogh getting up from a ruck and received his temporary marching orders.

Two minutes later the ever-reliable Jarvis landed a pivotal long-range penalty to give Quins some much-needed breathing space.

And with the extra man Harlequins looked a different side and started to dominate, stringing together a succession of phases.

Luscombe, back after missing four games through injury, popped up behind a ruck 15 metres from the Worcester line and after a moment's hesitation carved his way through the visitors' defence. Jarvis converted the try to leave the final score 20 points to six to Harlequins.
